EQUIPMENT: Balance board and candles, awards to be presented, achievement charts. PERSONNEL: Cubmaster and/or assistant Cubmaster, Den Chiefs

There are five ranks in Cub Scouting. Upon entering the pack a boy first becomes a Bobcat, and then may start to earn his Wolf badge. When he is in the third grade he works on his Bear, and when he is in the fourth grade, he joins the Webelos den and works on 20 different activity badges, which lead to his Arrow of Light award. As he progresses through the ranks, the work becomes increasingly difficult so that as he reaches each rank, he does things that require a little more skill, and a greater amount of responsibility than was required in the preceding rank. Tonight we have (number) of our Cub Scouts who have advanced in rank since last we met.

Den Chiefs, As I call the names of our advancing Cubs, escort them and their parents forward to our awards table. (Call Cubs and parents forward.)

Each den in our pack has an achievement chart point to chart, showing the progress of each Cub Scout in achievements and electives. (Name) has earned his Wolf badge. (Name), will you take this marker and color in the Wolf's head which represents your new rank. (Do this with each Cub of both ranks. Also, you may insert gold and silver arrow points if appropriate.) Parents, you have helped your son to complete these achievements and electives which led to his new rank, therefore, I ask that you pin these badges of honor on your son at this time.
