Line all the leaders or Scoutmasters up in front and tell them to repeat what you say and do, starting at one end of the line and progressing to the other end. Start by saying: "I went to France to buy a feathered fan," and make a fanning motion with your right hand. After all are doing the action, add the following motions, all introduced by: "I went to France to buy . . .

a pair of scissors (open and close fingers of left hand)

a hobby horse (stoop at the knees, stand up again, repeat)

a cuckoo clock (say: "cuckoo! cuckoo!")

After all the leaders are making these three motions and saying "cuckoo", turn to the audience and remark, "Kids, I want you all to take a good look at your leaders to see the fine example they try to set for you."
